Born October 14, 1940, in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, Patricia was a daughter of the late Robert Henkel and Dorothy Keeney Henkel, and the eldest of six children. Patricia was employed as a registered nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital until the time of her retirement in 1996. She is survived by two sons, John Canel and his wife Graciela of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tom Canel and his wife Marcy of Saxonburg; one daughter, Penelope Canel and her husband Michael Hickey of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren — Bailey Lewis and her fiancé Derek Young, Maddie Barnett and her husband Ryan, Lilly Canel, Helen Hickey, and Nick Canel. Butler Radio
She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Henkel of West End, North Carolina, and Allan Henkel of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Barbara Smith of Trafford, Pennsylvania, and Kathy DelCotto of Valencia; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Martin Funeral Home Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Wednesday, April 1, from 3–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. The Nurses Honor Guard will conduct a service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
